Bharatanatyam – an ancient classical dance form has its origins from Southern India.
Krithika Mukund, trained in Bharatanatyam for over 15yrs, learnt the art form in Chennai –
India from
Dr. Uma Anand
daughter and disciple of
Natya Kalachakravarti Padmasri K N Dandayuthapani Pillai
and
follows the Pandanallur style of dance.
LAYAYUKTA – a traditional class for classical Bharatanatyam dance will begin with the basic steps or Adavus, developing muscle flexibility and helps the student to prepare for advanced sessions of dance.
Greater emphasis is given on Adavus to gain:
Image Stamina
Image Good Posture
Image Develop flexibility
Image Sense of rhythm
Image Body Control
Beginners will learn adavus and hand gestures: an essential part of Bharatanatyam. The students will then be taught the various compositions beginning from simple to complex. The class will cover both practical and theoretical aspects of Bharatanatyam.
Arangetram or stage debut will be performed after completion of the rigorous training in Bharatanatyam.
Additionally, one-on-one training will be provided to students on a need-bebasis to address the student's weak area.
Age criteria for Beginners: The class is open to ages 6 and above.
